Boats IV - 2023

Bennett Johnson’ newest series explores the coastal waters of Long Island in 17×6 120 film format. The photos in this collection where overexposed by 1 1/4 stops and then the blacks and shadows were lowered in adobe photoshop. Enjoy!

Amboise - 2023

These images are from a recent trip in August of 2023 to Northern France. Amboise is located in the Loire Valley, and is home to many wonderful scenes. Texture was a big factor when composing many of these photographs, as the architecture in the area was home to many interesting elements.

Paris- 2023

These images are from the same trip as the Amboise collection above. Paris is a wonderful city, and I defiantly enjoyed being able to capture a few of its wonders. Enjoy!

Boats III - 2023

These images were captured in a single stormy afternoon sailing through Plum Gut to Shelter Island. I utilized motion blur in the maters moment, as well as multiple film emulation techniques such as grain scans in photoshop.

Dune Shapes - 2023

A collection of images from Great Sand Dunes National Park. Captured on a Canon R6 and edited in adobe Lightroom, enjoy!

Manhattan Bridge - 2023

A variety of monochrome images from Brooklyn and the Manhattan Bridge.

Rocky Mountains - 2023

A collection of images from a recent trip out west.  All of the images in this series are in monochrome, which I thought brings out the contrast between rock and snow. You may notice many sun flares in this project; the weather during my trip was almost solely sunny with little to no clouds, so I often found myself using the sun as a compositional element for these images. I shot all of these photos with a Canon R6 and a 25-105 f4 lens as well as a 50mm 1.8 prime.

Boats: I & II - 2021/2022

A collection of images from the summers of 2021 and 2022. These monochrome images showcase the northeastern seashores and boats that lie within them. Some of the images in this portfolio are slightly warm toned whereas others are completely monochrome. This choice was made to bring out the wood textures in may of the boat hulls. These images were shot on a variety of cameras and lenses including my Canon R6.

New York - 2021 to present

A somewhat limited but expanding portfolio of monochrome images from New York City. I love photographing the many architectural wonders in New York. This collection includes areas like Fulton Street Station, the Oculus, and Hudson Yards. I hope to continue this group of images throughout the years, as I travel into the city.
